Tribal Junction makes it easy and fun to create a family tree and find distant relatives. As users in your family tree add more relatives, your tree automatically grows and automatically links to existing trees of more distant relatives (view example family tree). This lets you discover your roots more easily, as well as avoid duplicated work of other relatives that have already built their own trees. With additional user features like GEDCOM import/export, group email, automated notifications, customizable user profiles and more, Tribal Junction is also a great way for your family to better keep in touch. Join now – it’s easy and free!

Once you log-in to create an account, you'll see options above your tree to import/export a GEDCOM file. If you import a GEDCOM file, you'll then see your tree automatically built from your file. If you export a file, you'll be able to download and save your GEDCOM data. |

Visit your "Family" page and click on "Add Family Members." The family tree is built in a series of steps - first add your parents, then any siblings. You can then add relatives of your parents, then their relatives, and so forth. Relatives can also be invited to join the site while you are adding them to the tree. |

If you are sure that a person in your family or a related family already exists in another family tree, navigate to your family management pages and proceed as if you were adding that person to your tree. For example, if the person that exists in another tree is the mother of someone in your tree, go to the Edit Family Member page for that person, and click on "Add Mother". Continue entering the details of the person you want to add, and press Submit. When you submit the form, the Tribal Junction system will alert you that there are possible matches in the database. To link your family tree to the other family tree click on "Confirm Match". Once you have initiated the link it will have to be approved by the owner of the other family tree. |

Each user on the site has a profile page. You can add as little or as much as you want on your profile page. You include pictures, family stories, lists of your favorite books, and more. You can even edit the look of your profile with custom backgrounds and styles.
You can also limit access to your profile in your Account page, in the section for Account options. Use this if you'd like to limit profile access exclusively to relatives already in your family tree. |

Go to your Account page. In the section for Mail Options, click on Send Group Email. You will then need to first create a group where your message will be sent. Select the names of the relatives you want included in your group. Once your group has been created, you can send them a group email through the same page. |

This is usually the result of your email provider mislabeling your Tribal Junction emails as SPAM. The problem can be easily corrected - please see the email troubleshooting page for instructions. |

Your family tree can be connected to an unlimited number of other family trees. In addition, any family member can be the link between several different trees. |

Yes. Visit your family management pages and click on the delete icon next to the person you want to delete. You can only delete a person if they have not registered for their own account, and if they are not related to more than one other person in your tree. |

|
|
A connection between two family trees can not be deleted in itself, however if the owner of another family tree deletes a family member that joins another family tree to yours, the connection between your trees will be lost. You will have to initiate a new link between two different members of the two trees to recreate the link. |
